It seems that FibreNest are trialing a 900mbit “Hyperfast” service which you can register interest through your account on the portal. It’s not currently available in their pricing table on the main site. I’ll be following the process and detailing my experiences here.
Firstly - I’m a little dubious about the capability of a 900mbit service. I know that my development of approx 100 houses is fed with a 10Gbit service. The contention on that 10Gbit can be noticeable at peak times (seen by those dramatic drops in connection speed in the graph below). However, monitoring has definitely improved over the last 4 years living there with averages for the last 30 days now exceeding the 500/80mbit service I pay for:
Anyways, I’ve registered my interest for the prupose of science and been sent a set of contract terms, of which I have highlighted the outline here:
For reference, I’ve initially been sent the following 2 documents:
However, there are few questions left unanswered in the original documents:
I have asked support the above before moving forward, and will update here when I get more info!
Response from support on my queries:
So it seems that this is purely a logical change, there is no network level change similar to previous upgrades. Similar to any re-grade from any other provider. I’ve authorised the upgrade with support.
I also seem to have uncovered a billing issue on my account, where I was not being billed for my static IP (apparently this was made billable in April 2023?). Shot myself in the foot on that one…
I’m still waiting for my upgrade to go through, ETA to be confirmed. I have requested that they don’t wait for the new ADTRAN router to be delivered before completing the upgrade, as I won’t be using it anyway.
Confirmation received from Support - upgrade has been processed, and the speed increase will take effect from my next invoice date. ADTRAN router has been shipped on next-day delivery. Also confirmed with support again that I will retain my static IP, and the connection with not have CGNAT.
ADTRAN router received. I may do an article on this new router at a later date, but won’t be using it myself.
Upgrade complete! As described, the upgrade took place over my monthly contract date, and has been renewed for 12 months. I have also retained my static IP as promised. Over the last 6 hours, monitoring is showing 939Mbit down and 112Mbit up. I’ll provide a better average over the next 7 days.
